Lessons are back and this year we are going to be participating in a year long note reading and recognition challenge!  This is something that I hope will become an annual studio challenge but don't worry we will also still have smaller challenges throughout the year as well.

The One Minute Club is a challenge that has been floating around the piano teaching world for a while.  It's a challenge that I feel will be a great fit for our studio this year as we continue to build our sight reading and note reading abilities across all levels.

To get into the One Minute Club, all you have to do is name and play all the notes in your assigned level in under a minute!  To start off the year we won't be focused on the timing aspect yet - the fall and winter months will be spent reviewing and practicing our note recognition.  This will be done through a combination of landmark notes, flash cards and ipad games.  In the spring we will spend 4-6 weeks challenging ourselves to become part of the club.  This is when we will actually begin timing ourselves with the goal of making the club.

Any student who completes their assigned level in under 1 minute will be added to the One Minute Club.  Students will be added to the wall chart, receive an official membership card and their name will be added into a draw for a prize at the end of the challenge.

When the challenge is complete, any student who has become members of the One Minute Club will have their name added into a draw to receive a $5 gift card at a surprise location.

We will have assigned levels for differently leveled students.  Once you successfully complete your level at 2 separate occasions, you are ready for the next level and will be encouraged to join the club at that level as well.

Level 1 - Bass F to Treble G
Level 2 - Bass C to Treble C
Level 3 - Low F to High G
Level 4 - Grand Staff Plus Ledger Notes
